So with the acquisition of POPSUGAR by Group Nine Media, it seemed like a good time to grab some fun github stats before all the projects are transitioned over. Now many will tell you that using the number of commits on a project isn’t necessarily a fair way to judge a programmer’s productivity. Certainly for legacy code bases, I personally put more value on how many lines of code they’ve deleted. In my tenure at POPSUGAR, there was also plenty of code to delete!
It’s probably worth pointing out this was only one of many GitHub projects at the company. One or two others on the team would probably surpass me if GitHub allowed you to do this over multiple projects. As a manager, that would of been a useful data point, but once again, check-ins on their own shouldn’t be weighted too heavily.
