{"id":503,"date":"2010-09-01T19:49:37","date_gmt":"2010-09-02T02:49:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mpsharp.com\/blog\/?p=503"},"modified":"2010-09-01T19:49:37","modified_gmt":"2010-09-02T02:49:37","slug":"more-cpu-envy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mpsharp.com\/?p=503","title":{"rendered":"More CPU Envy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>So just completed the configuration of my new Dell M4500.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cpubenchmark.net\/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Core+i7+720QM+%40+1.60GHz\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ntel i7 Q72o @ 1.60GHz<\/a> (not the fastest i7, but uses the least power)<\/li>\n<li>8GB memory<\/li>\n<li>60GB SSD drive<\/li>\n<li>500GB HD<\/li>\n<li>Windows 7 Ultimate, 64 bit<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The machine measures twice as fast as my old 4300 and the i7 excels at running VMWare machines. (Task Manager shows 8 CPUs: 4 hyperthreaded cores)\u00a0 Add the SSD for the OS, and you&#8217;re not waiting for anything. \u00a0 Furthermore, with a 64bit OS,\u00a0 I now have 4G allocated to each 32 bit VM and they run like they are native. \u00a0\u00a0 Other nice touches are the back lit keyboard, wireless-N card and external SATA port.<\/p>\n<p>My only complaint is the camera built into the screen is always pointed at you.   I&#8217;d prefer it had a some sort of physical lens cap.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_504\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-504\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mpsharp.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/IMAG0106.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-504\" title=\"Dell M4500\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mpsharp.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/IMAG0106-300x178.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"178\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-504\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Nice big keyboard with three mouse buttons above and below the pad.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The WEI score is 6.5 due to I didn&#8217;t bother with the high end graphics card.
